hpi clutch shoes help a noob

Hey there so I bought a used savage and in the box of parts, came some nice purple alluminum clutch shoe kit, http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/87196/

so I put everything together using the gold springs as stated on the website, my question is about the set screws that come with as well.... I understand that they help adjust, not sure how but anyway just wondering if I should have installed them in the shoes anyway... as I did leave them out.... any info on this anyone???

I used the screws in the shoes on my old 4.6, as it makes the shoe heavier, it helps the shoe overcome the spring earlier, so they engage at a lower engine speed, and harder. With them not in it should engage at a higher engine speed, and not quite as hard. Hope this helps bud.
